Gratitude Journal Lock
Gratitude Journal Lock ("the app", "we", "us") is published by Peidus Products OÜ. This policy explains how the app handles your data. In short: the app is built to be private by design. It needs no account, your gratitude entries never leave your device, and the choice of which apps to lock is handled entirely on your device by Apple's Screen Time. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous usage analytics and the data needed to process an optional subscription.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or location.
- No account, sign-in, or registration is required to use the app.
- We never read, upload, transmit, or store your gratitude entries, and we never learn which apps you have chosen to lock. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier.
Screen Time and the apps you lock
The app uses Apple's Screen Time (the Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity frameworks), with your explicit permission, to shield the apps you choose until you complete your daily gratitude moment. This is for your own self-regulation on your own device — it is not a parental-control or monitoring feature.
When you pick apps to lock, iOS provides the app with opaque tokens that represent your selection. These tokens are meaningful only on your device and are stored on your device (in an app group shared with the app's Screen Time extensions). We never receive the tokens, the names of the apps you selected, or any of your Screen Time or usage data. None of it leaves your device.
Your gratitude entries stay on your device
Anything you write — your gratitude notes — is stored only on your device. Your entries are never transmitted to us or to anyone else and are permanently removed when you delete the app.
Information stored only on your device
Your streak, daily progress, settings, and app-lock selection are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to us, and is permanently removed when you uninstall the app.
Anonymous usage analytics
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. We attach a random identifier generated on your device that is not derived from any device or personal identifier and does not identify you. We record product events such as opening the app, starting and completing the daily gratitude ritual, continuing a streak, granting Screen Time permission, viewing the upgrade screen, and completing a purchase, along with coarse, non-identifying device and diagnostic information. We never send the text of your gratitude entries, the apps you lock, or any personal identifiers. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
The anonymous profile may include a few non-identifying properties, such as which app in our family you are using and your subscription status (free or premium). We do not use this data for advertising and we do not track you.
Purchases
If you buy a subscription, the payment is processed by the Apple App Store, and entitlements are managed through our purchases provider, RevenueCat, Inc. To enable and restore purchases, RevenueCat processes:
- an anonymous app-user identifier generated on your device;
- purchase and transaction details and your subscription status;
- basic device and platform information needed to validate the purchase.
This information is used solely to deliver and restore your purchases and premium access. It is never used for advertising. RevenueCat acts as our data processor. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. Your actual payment details (card, billing information) are handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store them.
Notifications
With your permission, the app can show an optional local daily reminder to keep your streak. These notifications are scheduled on your device only. No notification server is used and no data is sent to us. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in your device settings.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Because your entries, streak, and app-lock selection are stored only on your device, you can erase them at any time by deleting the app. For purchase-related data held by RevenueCat, you may request access or deletion by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Our analytics use only anonymous data and are not tied to your identity.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect any changes.
