Alarm Clock: Wake Up Challenge

Last updated · 25 July 2026

Alarm Clock: Wake Up Challenge (also known as morningOS; “the app”, “we”, “us”) is a gentle alarm clock and morning-routine companion for iPhone, Apple Watch and widgets, published by Peidus Products OÜ. This policy explains how the app handles your data. In short: the app is private by design. It needs no account, it contains no analytics and no advertising, and your mornings, alarms, reflections and health readings stay on your device and in your own private iCloud — we never receive them.

Information we do not collect

  • No account, sign-in, or registration is required to use the app, and we do not operate a user database. We do not collect your name or email address unless you choose to write to our support form.
  • We never receive your health data, your sleep data, your calendar, your location, your reflections, or the contents of your mornings.
  • The app shows no advertising, contains no advertising SDK, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not track you across other apps or websites.
  • The app does not use your photo library or camera, and asks for no such permission.
  • The app does not read your contacts list (see Wake buddy sharing).
  • We do not sell or share personal data, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

No analytics, no tracking

To be completely plain about it: this app contains no analytics. There is no PostHog, no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Crashlytics, no Sentry, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no attribution or install-tracking SDK of any kind. We do not record which screens you open, which features you use, or how long you use the app. The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types.

The only third-party software development kit bundled with the app is RevenueCat, used solely to unlock and restore an optional purchase (see Purchases).

Stored on your device

Your alarms, wake times, morning journeys and rituals, morning modes, briefings, reflections and journal entries, sleep summaries, preferences and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. This data is not transmitted to us. It is removed from the device when you uninstall the app (a copy may remain in your own iCloud — see below).

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled, the app keeps your own morning data in sync across your devices using Apple CloudKit, in the app's private iCloud container (iCloud.pp.morningos). This is stored in your personal private iCloud database, under your Apple Account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it, cannot read it, and hold no copy of it. If you would rather not sync, disable iCloud for the app in iOS Settings; the app then works fully offline with local storage only.

Health data

If — and only if — you turn the Health connection on and grant permission, the app reads a small set of values from Apple Health to shape a gentler or brighter morning:

  • sleep analysis;
  • resting heart rate;
  • heart rate variability (SDNN);
  • step count.

The app never writes anything to Apple Health, and it never uploads health data anywhere. These values are read on your device, reduced immediately to a coarse readiness signal for that morning's plan, and then discarded. They are not sent to us, to any third party, or to any server. You can withdraw access at any time in the app's Connections settings or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, and the app keeps working without it.

Calendar

If you grant calendar access, the app reads today's events on your device to build the Morning Briefing. Only aggregates are used — how many meetings you have, when the first one starts, and how busy the day looks. Event titles, attendees, locations and notes are never used, never stored and never transmitted. Calendar access is optional and can be revoked in iOS Settings at any time.

Location and weather

If you grant location access, the app requests a single reduced-accuracy, when-in-use location fix so it can show sunrise, sunset and the weather that matters for your morning. The app never requests background or “always” location. Your location is never stored by the app and never sent to us.

The location is passed to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch the forecast. That request is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; weather data is provided by Apple Weather and its data sources. If you decline location access, the weather section is simply omitted.

Sleep tracking and the microphone

Optional overnight sleep tracking listens for snoring and restlessness, and uses the device's motion sensor, so the app can wake you at a lighter moment. No audio is ever recorded, saved or transmitted. Sound is analysed live on your device as a loudness measurement and is immediately discarded; the app contains no audio recorder and writes no audio files. What is kept is a small numeric summary of the night — start and end time, minutes of snoring, a count of noise events, a restlessness score, and whether smart wake fired. Microphone access is optional and can be revoked in iOS Settings.

Home accessories and music

If you connect HomeKit, the app can trigger a morning scene on your own home accessories — lights and warmth, never locks or security. HomeKit data stays on your device and in your own iCloud Home; we never receive it. If you connect Apple Music, the app can start a playlist you choose; playback is handled by Apple's Music app and we receive nothing about your listening.

Wake buddy sharing

The optional Wake Pact lets you share a wake-up commitment with one person you choose. If you use it, a small record — your display name, your wake time, your grace period, and whether you are awake — is placed in your own private iCloud and shared with that person through an Apple CloudKit share. The share is private to the person you invite; it is never public, and it never passes through our servers.

To invite someone you may pick a contact. This uses Apple's system contact picker, which runs outside the app: the app has no access to your contacts list and receives only the single contact you tap. If you send an invitation by message, your device's own Messages, WhatsApp or Telegram composer opens and you press send — we are not involved.

Alarms and notifications

The app schedules local alarms, smart-wake and ritual notifications on your device. These are created and delivered by iOS locally and contain no data we can see. If iCloud sync is enabled, the app also registers for Apple's silent CloudKit push notifications so your devices stay in sync — these carry no content and are used for nothing else. We send no marketing or promotional push notifications.

Remote app content

The app fetches some of its onboarding and upgrade-screen content from our own server at api.peidusproducts.com, so we can improve wording and layout without shipping an update. These are read-only requests. They include a random identifier generated on your device at first launch, used only to keep the version of that content consistent for you; it is not derived from any device or personal identifier, is not linked to any other data, and disappears when you uninstall the app. As with any internet request, our server briefly sees your IP address for the purpose of delivering the response. No usage events, device fingerprints or personal data are sent, and the app posts nothing back. If the request fails, the app falls back to content bundled inside the app and works normally.

The settings screen may also load small app icons for our other apps from peidusproducts.com; these are ordinary image requests with no identifier attached.

Purchases

The app offers an optional Plus upgrade. Payment is processed by the Apple App Store, and entitlements are managed through our purchases provider, RevenueCat, Inc. To enable and restore purchases, RevenueCat processes:

  • an anonymous app-user identifier generated on your device;
  • purchase and transaction details and your purchase status;
  • basic device and platform information needed to validate the purchase.

This information is used solely to deliver and restore your purchases and Plus access. It is never used for advertising. RevenueCat acts as our data processor. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. Your actual payment details (card, billing information) are handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store them.

Support requests

The app includes a Help & support form. If you choose to use it, the message you write is sent to our support desk at support.peidusproducts.com together with the email address and name you type in, and a single technical line containing your iOS version and language setting so we can reproduce the problem. Nothing else is attached — no health, sleep, calendar, location or morning data. We use it only to answer you, and delete support correspondence when it is no longer needed. You are equally welcome to email us directly instead.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your rights

Because your mornings, alarms, health readings and reflections are stored only on your device and in your own private iCloud, you are in direct control: you can erase them by deleting your data in the app, by deleting the app, or by removing the app's data from iCloud in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud. Withdrawing any permission (Health, Calendar, Location, Microphone, HomeKit, Notifications) is done in iOS Settings and takes effect immediately.

For purchase-related data held by RevenueCat, or for support correspondence, you may request access or deletion by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Where we process the limited data described above, we do so to provide the app you asked for and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and supporting it.

The data controller is Peidus Products OÜ, Ahtri tn 12, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia.
